The following travel options are available to get to Rouyn-Noranda.
Plane: Air Canada is the main airline carrier for the symposium. Participants arriving from outside the province of Quebec and wishing to fly into Rouyn-Noranda, must pass through Montreal (Pierre-Eliott Trudeau International Airport-YUL).
Air Canada is the official Canadian airline for the symposium. Ask the promotion code to get discount fares at deadwood2011@uqat.ca. In order to take advantage of the discounted fares, event delegates must book their flight at aircanada.com and enter the applicable Promotion Code in the search panel. If the Promotion Code is not entered or is entered incorrectly, the Discounts will not be applied to the booking. The applicable Promotion Code must be recorded on the delegate's ticket by ticketing agencies/airlines.
Shuttle
The symposium committee will offer free shuttle service from the airport to the convention centre or hotel. We invite you to make your reservation by filling the form.
Bus: Bus service to Rouyn-Noranda is available from Montreal and Toronto, and indirectly, from all other major cities. Reservations are usually not necessary. Fares are cheaper than airfare but obviously travelling time is much longer. Rates and timetables for departures between Montréal and Rouyn-Noranda are available at http://www.autobusmaheux.qc.ca/en/.
Car: Rouyn-Noranda is about a 7 hour drive from Montreal and Toronto. The drive is long but relatively easy and provides the opportunity to observe the transition from the southern-urban region to northern landscapes of forests, lakes and rivers. From Montreal, Route 15 N (Autoroute des Laurentides) turns into Route 117 N which takes you to Rouyn-Noranda. There is a long stretch of highway between Grand Remous and Louvicourt (about 300 km) where there are few services, so make sure you have adequate gas and provisions for the drive. From Toronto, take Highway 400 N to Barrie, then Highway 11 to North Bay. From North Bay, you take Hwy 63 to Témiscaming, Quebec then continue north on Hwy 101 to Rouyn-Noranda.
Rooms are reserved for Deadwood International Symposium at special rates. Hotel Albert and Motel de Ville are about a 10 minute walk from the conference centre. Motel Alpin is a 30 minute walk. A free taxi service will provide transport between the three hotels for participants at specific times.
